Ricard Terré

Deep in Galicia

In April 1959, Ricard Terré left his management position at the two textile companies for which he worked in Barcelona and moved with his family to live in Galicia. Ricard worked for a few years as a sales representative, a job that took him all over Galicia, a land that surprised him, both for its landscapes and for the culture of its people. Just as other colleagues were preparing their photobooks in those early years of the 1960s, Terré was collecting images for a book about Galicia, “love for the land and family” as he explained in a letter. He never stopped photographing Galicia, and his subjects, beyond those photographs focused on rites or Carnival, extend to everyday life and landscapes.
